Day 149, miles today - 9.0, total - 2,071.4, miles to go - 114.5

August 14, 2013

Horseshoe Canyon Lean-to to ME 15, Monson, ME.

It rained for a little while overnight. By morning it was cloudy, but the rain had stopped. We started hiking at 7:30. We were the last ones to leave the shelter.

We had an easy hike into Monson. There was one 500 ft. up, the rest of the trail was somewhat flat. We had to ford the East Branch of the Piscataquis River. It was shin deep.

We are spending the night at the Lakeshore House. We are going to zero here tomorrow. This is our last town and zero opportunity. They have bunk rooms, shower, washer and dryer. There is a restaurant on the first floor.

B-Rocket's mother, Jamey, and her friend DJ drove to Monson to see us. They live about 2.5 hours from here. We all ate a late lunch here at the Lakeshore House. We then drove 14 miles to Greenville, the next town over, to a grocery store. We did our final full resupply. By early evening, Jamey and DJ had left for home.

There are three other nobo's and two sobo's staying here. The nobo's are Bulldog, Todd and Roadrunner. We watched old movies in the small sitting area. We watched most of The French Connection, Matchstick Men and Blazing Saddles. We talked and got up and down at times, so I didn't watch all of either movie.
It was about 11:00 pm when I went to bed.
