Cookie Lady's House to Cheshire, MA, St. Mary of the Assumption Church

This morning Sundance and I each had six boiled eggs for breakfast. Spending the night here was nice. It was 8:00 when we got back on trail. It was a little but cooler this morning and very few mosquitoes.

It was about 9 miles to the town of Dalton, MA. The trail didn't have any big ups. The plan was to eat lunch when the trail passed through Dalton. We ate at Angelina's Subs. We both had a steak and cheese and a one liter bottle of pop. After we ate we went next door to the Juice and Java Place. Mainly just to hang out for a while. We did each get a coffee. We stayed in town for a couple hours. The lady at the coffee shop said a storm was moving in. The sky did look a little darker and the wind had picked up a bit.

At 2:30 we got back in trail. We had about nine miles to go. We were going to stay at a church in Cheshire, MA. Before reaching Cheshire, there was a nice overlook of the town. We sat there for several minutes enjoying the view. We passed an area with several beaver dams. I crossed over one of them to keep from walking through water.

Once we reached town we headed to the church. The reasons for the stop were that I had a mail drop sent to the church, and they allow backpackers to sleep in their hall. It was at the St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Father Raymond was very nice. There were at least twelve hikers there. Garfunkel, ET, Molly, Perogi and Java Man were there. The others I don't know.

Sundance, Garfunkel, Java Man, ET and I sat at a  round table eating from our food bags. We talked about how bad the mosquitoes had been. Everyone had a similar story. Trust me, they were REALLY  bad. We also talked about the White Mountains coming up. What the weather would be like and how difficult they would be. Within two days I'll be in Vermont. We will be having some big climbs in the near future, and some great views.
