Inn at Long Trail to The Lookout Cabin and Tower.
After eating breakfast we got back on trail. It was about 8:30. It was another warm and beautiful day.
After a couple miles we passed Kent Pond. It was a large body of water. There were two ladies in canoes on the water. It was very pretty.
A couple miles further we came to Thundering Falls. It was small but nice. We passed two sobo's near the Falls.
Our big up today was Quincy Mountain. It was a 1,300 ft climb. At a road crossing, right before we started the accent, there was a cooler with a few dozen candy bars inside. Amos, B-Rocket and I each had one. We each could use the extra boost for the big up awaiting us.
We saw moose prints in the mud in two locations. We saw moose droppings in three or four locations. It would have been nice to actually see a moose, but knowing they were in the area gave me something to watch for.
Towards the end of our day we took the side trail to the Lookout. It had a cabin and tower above the cabin. From the tower there was an awesome view of the mountain ranges in all directions. We made dinner at the cabin. We had planned to do a couple more miles, which would have put us at the Winturri Shelter. Instead we decided to stay inside the cabin. The cabin is privately owned and they allow backpackers to use it, pretty nice! This allowed us to watch the sunset from the tower. It was awesome! There are two south bound thru-hikers here. One is Radar and the other Chip. Both are nice guys. B-Rocket and I talked to them for several minutes.
If I wake up early enough tomorrow morning, I'll watch sunrise from the tower. I think that's in the 5:00 to 5:30 range. Pretty early.
