Day 54, miles today - 20.0, total - 748.5

Fullhardt Knob Shelter to Cove Mountain Shelter.

We started hiking this morning at 8:30 am. The five of us stopped for a short break at Wilson Creek Shelter. After nine miles we came out of the woods and crossed the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's a very scenic road. There were many great overlooks on both sides of the road. We saw two large black snakes today

We ate dinner at the Bobblets Gap Shelter. At Bear Wallow Gap, VA 43, Dutch wanted to go into town to get some toilet paper and to get something to eat. It was a little over five miles into the town of Buchanan. So we decided to give hitching a try. We planned to get back on trail this evening and hike to the next shelter. After a few minuets a guy named Dan and his wife stopped. They said they'd give us a ride, but could only take three. Dutch, Wanderlust and I decided to go. They took us to the Dollar General and waited for us in their car. after getting a few things they took us to a small restaurant called the Fountain.  Dan and his wife were going to a bar/restaurant and said they would pick us up in one hour and return us back to the trail. The Fountain was a drug store and restaurant combined. They had a few booths and stools at the counter. We sat at the counter. I had spaghetti with garlic bread, root beer float, and a chocolate milkshake. Dutch and Wanderlust had chilli and grilled cheese in addition to the spaghetti. We were all very full. Dan and his wife picked us up and took us back to the trail.

My cell phone battery has been very low, so I haven't been able to take as many pictures as I would like.
